Igano Kabamaru (伊賀野カバ丸) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yū Azuki. It was published in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine from 1979 to 1981, and the chapters compiled into 12 tankobon volumes.

Plot[]

A naive young ninja named Kagemaru spends his life in the mountains training ninjitsu under the tutelage of his strict grandfather sensei. After his grandfather died, Kabamaru moves to Tokyo with one of this late grandfather's acquaintances where the plot deals with Kabamaru adjusting to his new lifestyle in the urban area, him developing feelings for his guardian's granddaughter, and getting caught up in a rivalry between two private schools.

  • Kagemaru Igano (伊賀野 影丸): The eponymous protagonist of the series born from the Iga province. He is nicknamed Kabamaru (hippo's mouth) for his insatiable appetite.
